Blonde Hot Dog Kids

Meh.

Today's bento.  Meh.  If I'm being honest, I'm not thrilled with it.  But quite frankly, I think I deserve a squish of extra credit for it because I was up before 6AM this morning.  My husband's promotion was this morning so I had to actually get myself put together properly before we left the house so that we could attend.  I had a very important role in his ceremony and was responsible for "pinning" on his new rank!  Basically, this all means that my alarm clock was pestering me at 5:30AM.  I am not a morning person.  If I had the chance to re-make this lunch now that it's nearly noon and I've had coffee...  It'd probably turn out a lot cuter and less...  Thrown together.  Oh well.  It does the trick.

Today to go with the school-provided Friday bread and milk, A has tamagoyaki, a couple of hot dog kids (new and improved with angel hair!), edamame, a strawberry, a jelly, some carrots, cheese, apples and kiwis.
:)

Also...  Congratulations honey!  :)  We love you and are so proud.

Five years ago today, before we had children, before the military moved us away (far away!) from our "home" state of California...  I pinned on his previous rank.  Today I was thrilled to be a part - and have our children be a part, as well - of this newest big event in our family and in my husband's career.

  2. She actually enjoyed it and brought me no left overs! She said that she liked the "girl hot dogs and boy hot dogs," and that, "Next time I want a girl and a boy and a baby and a mommy and a daddy and a big girl." I think that's kind of hot dog overload, personally.

  5. Hey Jennifer! I cut regular hotdogs in half, then cut a slit about 1/3 up from the bottom. Then I cut the "arms" as diagonal slits up each side. Cut a couple of short slits horizontally to make the "shoulders". cut a very shallow slit for the mouth, used a blunt ended toothpick to poke eyes, and then stuck raw angel hair pasta into the top of each hotdog (long for the girl, short for the boy). Added them to a pot of boiling water and boiled as directed on the angel hair package. :) I put a little olive oil in the girl's hair to keep it from being sticky. It was fun and my daughter loved it!

Awesome that you have family here! You should come visit - it is SUCH a cool place. :)
